Can you believe we’re over two weeks into the New Year already!?! I’ve had so much going on behind the scenes as I prepare for my baby to arrive (eeeekkk not long now!) – there’s been decorating, baby shower and hospital appointments, all between coaching my one-on-one clients and continuing to see them sky-rocket. They’re doing incredible!!! Plus, I’ve been finishing off the final touches to my self-study programme Psychology and Money – I’ll share details of how you can find out more in a bit.
But first, I just want to support you with goal setting because for the past two weeks I’ve been back and forth with my one-on-one clients getting their head back in the game for 2019 and a key part of our focus has been goal setting. It’s so important!
As a Psychologist and Behaviour Change Expert what I know to be scientifically true is that 80% of people fail to keep their New Year, New Me resolutions and actually most people give up on their New Year resolutions by January 12th.
As much as everyone would love for it to be, unfortunately behaviour change is NOT easy, and requires Mindset Mastery to help you really catapult your success, which is why I wanted to email you this week and support you to take back control! So here’s a few tips to help you get your mojo back and skyrocket your success in 2019!
1. Remember to make your goals SMART.
You know the whole SMART theory, well it’s true.
Goals need to be specific and measurable, not wishy washy! Instead of a goal to make more money than last month, how much money? What will it take to do that? How will you spend the money? Why is it even important? Get specific and measurable!
And… make your goals attainable AND exciting! This is NOT about setting easy goals! It’s about setting goals that will stretch you, and doing the work required to stretch out of your comfort zone and attain those goals!
And.. always ensure your goals dial back into your big picture vision and dream; and are in alignment with your values, otherwise it will be hard to stay on course!
And of-course setting a time frame you wish to accomplish your goals in important!
2. Look at ALL the areas of your life when goal setting. The areas I’d suggest are:
Health / fitness
Money / finance
Your home / environment
3. Write your goals and put them where you can see them. Use conscious language like I AM, and I WILL rather than I’ll try to or I hope to.
4. Make an action plan and take action.
5. Revisit your goal setting plan on a weekly basis! Don’t just do goal setting for fun and then let it collect dust!
If you haven’t started goal setting already, or even if you have but you’re not taking consistent, persistent action, then I’d strongly advise you to set aside sometime today or tomorrow – at least an hour and a half and get super clear on your goals for at least the next 4-weeks for your personal and professional life. Trust me, it will be worth it!
Once again Happy New Year and take time to rebalance and reconnect with the most important person you know… YOU!
Good vibes always,
Dr. Tilean xoxo
